About The Gambia

The Gambia is the smallest country in Africa and has about 1.584.081 millionen inhabitants. The official language is English, but many natives speak only their tribal languages like Wolof, Mandinka, Fula, and several others.

The Gambia became independent from Great Britain in 1965. It has no resources and only little industry. About 90% of the population is Moslem and the rest Christian and Animist. The Gambia has a tropical clime with a very hot and humid rainy season from June till November and a dry season the rest of the year.

About 60% of the population is illiterate. See link
